The Pathways to Employment Career Readiness Expo is Madi’s Movement’s signature workforce initiative, designed to connect teens and young adults with lived experience in foster care to real-world career opportunities, professional networks, and pathways to long-term success.
This interactive, hands-on event brings together employers, industry professionals, educational partners, and community leaders to provide direct exposure to career paths, required skills, and advancement opportunities. Young adults engage in meaningful conversations, explore industries, and gain the tools needed to move from interest to employment.
What to Expect:
- Direct engagement with professionals across more than 50 career fields
- Resume workshops and hands-on career preparation
- Mock interviews with real-time feedback
- Professional headshots to support job readiness
- Career pathway exploration with colleges, trade programs, and employers
- Coaching on communication, confidence, and workplace readiness
- A holistic approach that includes wellness and long-term success strategies
Why It Matters:
Young adults aging out of foster care face significant barriers:
- 50% do not graduate high school
- They are 3x more likely to be unemployed
- 1 in 5 experience homelessness after aging out
This Expo is designed to change that by providing real access, real preparation, and real opportunity.
